I am overwhelmed with Christ's love. Wowzers. I'm so glad I came across the following excerpt from Max Lucado's Daily Devotional this morning. Retelling the story about that day on the cross, Lucado writes, "God is on a cross. The creator of the universe is being executed. It is no normal six hours. It is no normal Friday. Far worse than the breaking of his body is the shredding of his heart. And now his own father is beginning to turn his back on him, leaving him alone." No, it wasn't a normal Friday. No, it wasn't a normal 6 hours.
So what does the cross symbolize? What does it tell us? Lucado summed up: "The sinless One took on the face of a sinner so that we sinners could take on the face of a saint!" Overwhelmed with that statement? The sinless one took the face a sinner - ME! Sometimes, I think, "Geez. I'm such a sinner. Why would he still love me?" When thoughts like this consume me, I think about the cross. Encouragement: "Somewhere, sometime, you got tangled in garbage...and you've been avoiding God. You wonder if you could ever feel close to God again. The message of his flesh on the cross is - you can." Remember the cross.
Ok, those are just my ramblings of this moment. Go on, have a wonderful day!!
