1st 30 Day Challenge = COMPLETE

Ok, so you're probably thinking, "Not so fast, missy...You didn't post for 30 days straight." Fine. You got me. However, I ran every day for 30 days - so I'm going to say I completed it :) Plus, I realized that blogging every single day would get a little overboard. Dan also successfully finished his task, too! HOORAY!

This upcoming Saturday I will be running the 13.1 miles I have been training for - and I will see if the run-for-30-days-straight (don't worry, I was training all winter too!) will pay off or not. Prayers for strength and endurance are definitely welcome!!! Of course, if you'd like to make a donation to help offset costs for my friend I am running in honor of, you can donate online at the B*STRONG YouCaring fundraising page. Any little bit helps!

The next 30-day challenge? I'm not sure yet. The husb and I are looking forward to these monthly challenges. What about you? Is there anything you'd like to challenge yourself to complete for 30 days straight?

P.S. I'm not even going to go back and check this blog post. I'm gonna post it. Just as is. That's right, I'm a rebel!

Running for Her

Alright, alright...I know. Post-a-day for 30 days already stopped. Honestly? I just didn't want my posts to turn into "Today I ran. Then I blogged." I will have you know that I have kept up with the running-everyday-for-30-days so far! I will also let you know that I had an 11 miler on Saturday and I gotta say, although my post-run stomach ache would disagree with me, it was a good one!

Oh and just so you know, I'm not all like "oh I just run 11 miles here and 10 miles there..." year-round...I'm training for a half marathon - the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon in Indianapolis. While I will be completing my third (!!!) half on May 4th, I will be completing it with a much larger purpose: I am running in honor of one of my best friends, who is just barely in her mid-twenties, and her battle with Pancreatic Cancer. The training this time around has definitely been the most emotional, but also the most rewarding. When I sign up for something, be that a job or any other commitment, I like to have meaning and purpose behind that "something." Every time I bock at lacing up mizunos or having to go to bed early because I need to get in my long run the next morning, God reminds me that I'm not "just" running or "just" training for "another" race - I'm training, running, and putting my body through some tiring runs to honor my dear friend who is receiving chemo treatments every other week and who is wondering how her body is going to react to the treatment each time, but who is ALSO back in the office just three days after 48 hours of constant chemo treatment. Wow. A measly 13.1 miles just doesn't even do that justice, huh? She is strong. She is a fighter. She is positive. She trusts in God and His plan. She inspires me. I will run for her!

I certainly know there are plenty of "Teams in Training" and wonderful, fantastic causes out there and that I'm not the only one doing this for a loved one or great cause (re: Check out the Marathon Goddess. She is also running to support pancreatic cancer. She is running 52 marathons in 52 weeks - incredible!). I am asking friends and family to consider sponsoring me to run the Indy Mini on May 4th. I have two ambitious goals – first to complete my third half marathon and second, but most importantly, to raise money to help offset uncovered medical expenses and loss of income that my friend and her husband may incur while she is on her journey to beating this terrible disease. If you feel led to do so, I would greatly appreciate your kind consideration by making a donation toward this goal.

I also ask you to keep my friend in your prayers.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." [Isaiah 41:10]

Pic Post

I'm tired and really just cranking this post out just because. Sheesh. I hope to get a legit (like with thoughts and profound-ish schtuff and all) soon, but these photos will have to do until then. Photos:
1. A good college friend/sorority sista got married a couple weeks ago. Beautiful bride!!
2. My AGO and me all dressed up for Easter.
3. The cute hubster.
4. Holy moly did the Moose-man need a haircut. He couldn't see. Poor guy.
5. Annnnnd holy moly did the groomer give him a TRIM or what? Oh, his tail is half shaved by the way. I will spare his embarrassment and not post that one (mommy loves you, Moose).
6. Delicious pretzels.

Just like my iPhone battery, I'm fadin'.

Day 4 of 30: Complete.

(Day 3 of 30 was completed yesterday too! I just didn't add it to the bottom of my bloglovin' post. Oh and while I'm at it: Follow me on bloglovin', yo.)

Post Doesn't Deserve a Title

Gotta admit: I'm in bed and just realized that I hadn't posted yet. D also realized that he hasn't done his "thing" for today (crunches and push-ups). Really? Day nĂºmero dos and we almost failed? Key word: almost.

I ran today.
I blogged today.
Victory.
(D completed his, too)
Back on track.

30 Days = New habit

Holla. I'm here. Life has been crazy and busy, but everyone's life is crazy and busy... so really that isn't a good excuse to why I haven't been able to carve out a couple minutes a day to post.

With that being said, today marks the first day of 30 that I have committed to write. I found this TED talk by Matt Cutts (Google man) to be an inspiration and I even got my ol' husband to join me in "trying something new for 30 days" (or - let me rephrase that - STICK to SOMETHING for 30 days). Here's what's on tap for the next 30 days:

Write a blog post everyday for 30 days.
Let's face it: I just needed something else to "make" me do this and quit neglecting my blog.

Run everyday for 30 days.
I run 5 days a week, so adding a run on those other 2 days (I'm going to say at least a mile) shouldn't be a huge burden (easier said that done, I know). Plus, I typically take the day off after my super long runs on Saturdays...which isn't that great for the ol' legs. Adding at least a mile the next day will help my legs stay loose (Right? Maybe I made that up.).

So, follow me the next 30 days as I run (Ok, maybe not literally on the run - that'd get creepy) and write.

Day 1 of 30: Complete.

Making Sense of Interruptions

Sometimes things don't go as you plan. Sometimes things get in the way of your plans. Sometimes this is a good thing and sometimes it seems like a bad thing. Sometimes those bad things are just so terrible that you can't lift your head up out of the fog and see past the situation. Sometimes these interruptions seem like a bad nightmare that you just can't wake up from. It may not even be something happening directly to you, but interruptions in your family and closest friends' lives affect the world around you. No matter if they are good or bad. I am really at a loss of words and just want to end with a snippet from a recent reading in Our Daily Bread that sums up the meaning and impact of God's interruptions.

"When God interrupts our best laid plans and expectations—even when it seems like the outcomes are devastating—He has a far greater thing in mind for us. God’s worthiness and glory is far more evident when it is expressed in the midst of suffering. There is no greater confirmation of the trustworthiness of God than when we trust Him even in the face of the unexpected insecurities and uncertainties of life. And who knows what He has in store through you in terms of impact in future generations when He rearranges your life? I can’t always tell you what God is up to, but I can assure you that He uses interruptions to do things far beyond what we ever dreamed."

The last line is something that is so very difficult to fathom in the midst the adversity, but it is also the most important. Honestly and faithfully turning to God's word is exactly where we will find comfort.
